TOPIC: User/Admin Activation

User/Admin Activation 9 years 10 months ago #31494

Greetings,

I'm a little confused at how the activation links work? When I complete the form, I receive an email with an activation link....after I click on the link, it takes me back to my site where the message "account activated" appears on the sites page. However, when I go under User Manager in Joomla Control panel, the Activation for that member is still disabled?

Also, once an account has been activated, is the member supposed to receive a message about that to let them know they can now access the members only area? If so, that's not working on my end either.

Lastly, the action under Joomla User Registration that says "based on another field" - what does that actually mean and how am I to properly use it? The video tutorial wasn't very clear.

Thanks,
James

Depending on your Joomla! User Registration settings, this behavior changes.

For example, if you use Admin activation - the user clicks the activation email and upon this action, another email is sent to the Administrator to activate it.

As for your other question regarding the "Action", our documentation states clearly that you can let the user decide if he wants to create an account or submit the form without registering.

"Action: Always create the user / Based on another field - you can either offer the form's submitter the choice of having a new user account created on your website after the form's submission (by using the Based on another field option) or to force the creation of a new account (by setting this option to Always create the user). "

Basically, you will need to create a e.g. dropdown field that has at least one item with the value 1 or register. If your user selects it in the form, the user will be created, if not - the registration process is skipped.
