When you select a date eg 10 Jan 2020 on the calendar what appear in the input field value is
Saturday.January.20202020

Running RSForms 2.3.2 joomla 3.9.14

You'll now need to properly set a PHP date() format.

for the calendar field -> Attribute-> date format it is set to
d/m/Y
