TOPIC: Seminar Series setup - multiple tickets, group reg

Seminar Series setup - multiple tickets, group reg 11 years 3 months ago #26053

Products available for use installed on Server: RSEventsPro and RSFormsPro [if I need others?]- Below, when I use the word "System", I'm referring to RSEventsPro or RSFormsPro functionality.

(example)
Establish a seminar series called "Cooking Classes for Kids"
The entire series has 9 available sessions, Session 1 - Session 9, each with a MAX of 25 participants per session
Each participant, no matter the number of sessions has a registration fee (Ie. $15)

Each session is $10 per participant.

How do I do setup the seminar series "Cooking Classes for Kids" to sell multiple sessions, and be able to do so as a "group" registration [NOTE: We have determined that under "Group" registration, all members of the group registration must attend the same sessions; in other words, the user chooses the available sessions and is just buying multiple tickets to that same session]

EXAMPLE FRONT END USE
Scenario
- A parent wants to register 1 or more children for 5 (of the 9 available) sessions, specifically choosing session 1, 3, 4, 5, 9
- System presents list of sessions to choose from, parent chooses sessions (checkmark box?)
- System requests 'How many participants?'
- System requests group information (name/info on each member of the group, directly related to the number of 'How many participants')
- System calculates total and presents payment options:
Ie. 1 participant = 5 sessions @ $10/session @ 1 particpant [$50] + $15 per participant registration fee = $65
2 participants = 5 sessions @ $10/session @ 2 participants [$100] + $15 per participant registration fee [$15 * 2] = $130

IF for example, there are 7 sessions chosen with a group registration of 4 participants, the total would be:
7 sessions @ $10 session @ 4 participants [$280] + reg fees [$15 * 4 participants = $60] = TOTAL = $340.

============
This basically covers multiple issues, least important is the gathering of 'group' participant information. That can be collected manually at a later time. Everything else runs together.

I *tried* to do this ultimate basic event setup by creating a single event [dates/times are really irrelevant], then adding in 10 different tickets, each with a limit of 25 'seats'; 1 ticket is the "registration fee" ticket ($15/seat), then 9 different session tickets [$10/seat].

Unfortunately, the user front end doesn't allow you to purchase more than 1 TYPE of ticket at a time. Therefore, purchasing "sessions" based on tickets doesn't work.

I've even tried setting up 9 different events (representing each of the 9 sessions) with 1 ticket-type each event. BUT - you can't register for more than 1 separate event at a time.

Hello,

Using RSEvents!Pro you can only actually register one user per submission. You cannot register multiple people at once.

Based on your described scenario, you can:

- create one event in which the component will have enabled the "Multiple tickets" (for an user to be able to purchase multiple tickets) and the "Multiple registration" (so that the same user can submit the same event registration form once again) options:

www.rsjoomla.com/support/documentation/v...le/690-settings.html

- events tickets will actually be "sessions" so that the user can choose which session to participate.

- if the user want to register 4 participants, he/she will have to submit the event registration form 4 times.

- the registration fee can be added as a tax within your payment plugin configuration:

www.rsjoomla.com/support/documentation/v...ins-and-modules.html

The above explanation is achieved with RSEvents!Pro alone, without RSForm!Pro. If you do require extra information you need to collect, you can use RSForm!Pro on this. The integration between the mentioned components is explained here:

Additional information on RSEvents!Pro can be found in the Getting Started section:

Hi there
In the reply to this question Adrianp says
"- the registration fee can be added as a tax within your payment plugin configuration"

There is one problem with doing this - using the Paypal plugin - that I have discovered.
I wanted to add the cost of Paypal transactions onto a ticket's price.
Ie if someone pays for a ticket by Paypal they would pay and additional 3.5%

SO I added in the tax field of the plug in 3.5%
I also changed the word 'tax' in the language managed to say Paypal Fee
This worked perfectly.
When someone chose to pay by Paypal it showed the additional 3.5% and added it on and showed the new total.
But!
Although when I tested making a payment with Paypal it showed the correct total
ie The Ticket Price and the 3.5% tax
This additional amount was shows as being tax added onto the ticket price.
Now here in the UK there is a tax added onto goods purchased called VAT.
A business can only charge this amount if he is VAT registered with the tax authorities.
And he must send this tax (less legitimate deductions) to the tax authority every quarter.
technically it would be illegal to charge someone 'tax' on top of the price of an item - if you are not registered to do so with the tax authorities.
So unfortunately we could not use this method for adding an additional amount to pay the PayPal fee.

I am wondering wether it would be possible to add a field to the Plugin which allowed for additional amounts (such as the registration fee mentioened in this thread) which would be sent to Paypal as a total amount not as an additional 'tax amount'
I think fixing this would be easy - unfortunately my PHP skills are not up to scratch!
Any advice appreciated

Andrew
