TOPIC: Template Overrides

Template Overrides 11 years 10 months ago #17795

Hi,

This upgrade is fantastic!

I am trying to create template overrides for the event detail view and various other layouts, but im not having much luck. I have looked at this article www.rsjoomla.com/support/documentation/v...s-look-and-feel.html but still cant get it to work.

Has anyone had success with this and is able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Stacey

Hello,

I have read the article and it just the same as the default extension template override in Joomla!.
I will try to explain it.
Let do the the event details page - componnets/com_rseventspro/views/rseventspro/tmpl/show.php

Go with a ftp client to your website.
Go to the componnets/com_rseventspro/views/rseventspro/tmpl/ folder
Download show.php

Now go to your template e.g. /templates/your_template/
Create a folder HTML
Create a folder com_rseventspro in the folder HTML
Create a folder rseventspro in the folder com_rseventspro
Upload the file show.php

When you change that file you change your template

Tell me if this works, i think there is a mistype in the article.
Regards
Wilco Alsemgeest

Yay, that worked! Yes, mistake in article, it should not say views

to: TEMPLATE_NAME/html/com_rseventspro/views/rseventspro/show.php

I'm having a problem with the template overrides too. The problem is with the CSS files:

Using Joomla 2.5.4 / JA Mendozite template (JoomlArt)

When i copy this file :

components/com_rseventspro/assets/css/style.css

to:

templates/ja_mendozite/html/com_rseventspro/assets/css/style.css

it still uses the old file from the component map not from the templates map. Have this problem with multiple other files from mod_rseventspro_slider too.

I have no idea what i'm doing wrong.

Cheers

I'm having problems with the override as well. I can't get it to work the way it is decribed as above.
I've done it before with another component and that worked great.

Could there still be something wrong with the path?

You don't actually have to move the component CSS file. You can simply add the CSS adjustments directly to the template files, or onto a separate one. If the second approach will be used, don't forget to load the CSS file within the template override.
