Is it possible to have a user or users group subscribe to categories, to receive email notifications when a new post is made, in only the blogs they have permissions to view? It seems they can only subscribe to one category or all, no matter what their permissions are set to.

I also thought if that isn't possible, would it be possible to set the site to Email a subscriber on posts made in any subcategory by being subscribed to the parent category?

I tried both of the above without success, but thought I would ask in case I missed something.
