TOPIC: RSTickets Pro and Gmail replies

RSTickets Pro and Gmail replies 13 years 1 month ago #13036

When a user (or staff person) replies via email to a ticket using Gmail, RSTickets Pro is not able to parse the "reply above the line" separator and the entire messages gets added to the ticket, all smooshed up with no apparent line breaks of any kind. This appears to be a Google Gmail issue, as other mail clients like Thunderbird do not cause this, but given how widely used Gmail is, does anyone know what may be causing this or how to fix it?

Hello,

Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done as each email client can add its own HTML / tags / separators the email reply - thus the email parser will not always be able to strip out the unnecessary tags or text.

Actually, we've done more testing and it appears not to be a Gmail issue, but a Macintosh issue. Emails sent form a Macintosh, when picked up by the cron email parser, loose and and all line breaks the message has. I wonder if this is due to Macs using CR and Windows/Linux using LF or CRLF for line delimiters. We'll keep testing, but if anyone else viewing this forum have any idea on a solution or even has seen this symptom before, please post a note.
