Hello all,

Does anyone know if RSFiles relies in any way on native Joomla 1.6 ACL and user groups to allow/block user(groups) to see certain files?

Joomla 1.6 makes it easy to setup groups based on arbitrary nested categories where users have different privileges. For example, selective content can be made available to a group called "Classroom", where user "Teacher" has full privileges over content and "Students" have viewing and uploading access. Additional "Classroom" groups are also easy to create.

In this scenario:

a) Can RSFiles be setup to each "student" can upload files (i.e. homework, assignments, quizzes, etc) that will be visible only to himself and the teacher?

b) Can RSFiles be setup for other "Classroom" hierarchies ? (i.e. other groups with their respective teachers and students)

c) If (a) and (b) are affirmative, would the RSFiles recognize the native Joomla 1.6 User groups or would we need to define all groups again (within RSFiles)?

d) Would we need any special folder hierarchy (for uploads by students/downloads by teachers) that reflects the user groups hierarchy?

Thank you kindly for any information you may provide.

Tom

Hello,

The RSFiles! groups have different functionality for the standard Joomla ACLs. For example one RSFiles! group can aggregate two (or more) Joomla ACLs and individual users.

a)This could be done, but it will imply that you would have to set up one group for each student (an of course one folder for each of them)

b)Yes

c)Yes

d)Answered on on point a)
