Re:Cannot install even when i disable lockdown?? 15 years 6 months ago #9395

I have a similar problem. On all of my sites after installing RSFirewall and protecting my sites, I can no longer install components. I have my open_basedir and configuration.php pointing to the right directory. The error is "There was an error uploading this file to the server." The file is 742kb.

I tried re-pointing them to inside public_html, but that doesn;t work either. Suggestions? My site score is 78.

Re:Cannot install even when i disable lockdown?? 15 years 6 months ago #9397

Same problem here. In desperation, I finally UNinstalled RSJoomla to see if I could install ANYTHING.

No Joy.

Nothing. No components...no modules...no plugins. Nothing will install.

I am at a complete loss.

Any ideas would be Greatly Appreciated.

Thanks.

Re:Cannot install even when i disable lockdown?? 15 years 6 months ago #9398

OK. So

-1- I uploaded a component ZIP file to my jtemp folder
-2- extracted it
-3- used the "Install from Folder" option

it worked.

Still...this is rather inconvenient :S

Thanks.

Hello,

Please make sure that you have the correct permissions set for /components, /administrator/components and for your Joomla! tmp folder in order to install other extensions. The recommended permissions are the following:

755 for /components, 755 for administrator/components, 777 for /media and 777 for /tmp

Re:Cannot install even when i disable lockdown?? 15 years 6 months ago #9427

I've tried editing the permissions and it still doesn't work across several sites.

/host/tmp 0777
/host/tmp/sitetmp 0777
/host/public_html/media 0777

When I try to install from the /TMP as from a directory, it says "Please enter a package directory" no matter what file I try.

Any ideas?

I got post #9398's method to work, but not simpler process.

Same here I got the installing from the tmp file to work but still can't use Joomla installer. It looks like I am not the only one having this problem.

Hello,

You can try to disable the System plug-in of RSFirewall! and so the component will be disabled along with the System Lockdown. If the problem persists then the issue is not generated by the component.

Re:Cannot install even when i disable lockdown?? 15 years 3 months ago #10143

I've been having the same issue and it is a problem caused indirectly by RSFirewall.

When RSFirewall created a php.ini with the following line:

open_basedir=/home/sites/mywebsite.com/public_html:/home/sites/mywebsite.com/joomlalogs

my installs stopped working.

By editing the line to:

open_basedir=/home/sites/mywebsite.com/public_html:/home/sites/mywebsite.com/joomlalogs:/tmp

the problem is solved.

Hope this helps someone.

Nice, you are right, adding that line it works!!

RSFirewall staff, can you explain why?. I made a clean isntall:

Install joomla 1.6.2 ok
Install rsfirewall ok
Made all ok values in system check with website grade 91.
Upload and install module ok
Disable system plug-in of RSFirewall ok
Upload and install module ok
Enable system plug-in of RSFirewall ok
Upload and isntall module ok
Enable System Lockdown ok
Upload and install module failed
Disable System Lockdown ok
Upload and install module failed
