TOPIC: installation errors when moving files

When I try and install a new extension (TCPDF 6.0.096 by Nicola Asuni. Joomla Installer by the VirtueMart Team), I get the following errors which I believe may be tied to rsfirewall:

Warning
Rename failed.

Rename failed.

Rename failed.

Rename failed.

Message
Couldnt move

[a number of different file locations it was unable to move]

Installation of the component was successful.

But the component is not working properly. Any suggestions?
The administrator has disabled public write access.
