TOPIC: Distinguishing between DOS attacks and 'hits'

Distinguishing between DOS attacks and 'hits' 13 years 4 months ago #12438

The site for which I have purchased RSFirewall often gets Slashdotted or subjected to large numbers of hits from referring sites such as fark.com, Digg or Stumbleupon, etc. I am concerned that RSFirewall's anti-DOS feature will flag a huge number of referrers from one of these sites as a DOS attack and block them. I can't find anything in the documentation to reassure me on this - any advice?

Hello,

Just to be sure... you can disable this option, as most servers have a built in DoS protection.
