TOPIC: [Solved] RS Firewall with Joomla/Community Builder

[Solved] RS Firewall with Joomla/Community Builder 13 years 5 months ago #11969

After installing a fresh, up-to-date copy of Joomla on our domain name, our church purchased RS Firewall to protect our site from people who want to do it harm (hackers, bots, etc.) We also have the latest version of Community Builder installed on our website. I am running into an issue which I think may be RS Firewall related, but I am seeing it in a couple screens...one of which is the area to edit your profile on the front-end side of Community Builder. For example, when I log in with my username/password to our church website and then go to the area to edit/change my e-mail address, I see code both in the text box where I would normally type in my e-mail address and also next to that same text box. The code in the text box is:
<img src=
The code outside of the text box is:
" mosReq="1" mosLabel="Email" size="25" class="email required inputbox" title="Email: Please enter a valid e-mail address. A confirmation email will be sent to this address upon registration." />
Now...here is where RS Firewall comes into play. If I take a look at the page source and look at the code given for the e-mail field, I see something referencing the RS Firewall (I have highlighted part of the code in blue):
<td class="fieldCell" id="cbfv_50"><input type="text" name="email" id="email" value="<img src="/alc/index.php?option=com_rsfirewall&task=cloak&string=aG9 . . .
I can input my e-mail address into the text box like usual, but then similar code also appears in and next to the text box where I would normally have to confirm my e-mail address by typing it in a second time.

I have tried the Joomlapolis forums, and the higher-ups there have said that this is not an issue with Community Builder...because this would not happen with a clean install. So, I am trying another route since I found code that references RS Firewall. I am really lost as to what to do to get this issue resolved and so am looking for some help. Thanks...in advance.

Hello,

This is actually generated because RSFirewall! tries to transform any encountered email address into an image so it can't be read by automated crawling boots. Naturally when it comes across input fields, the image can't be used.

In order to disable this option, you head to Components > RSFirewall! > Configuration > Active scanner and set the "Convert email addresses from plain text to images " option to "no".
