TOPIC: Overall combined ticket limit -- has it been done?

Overall combined ticket limit -- has it been done? 11 years 11 months ago #17311

Has anyone found a way to implement an overall ticket limit that combines all ticket types into one numerical limit? This is a major shortcoming with RSEvents for any event that operates on a "general admission" format with more than one event fee.

For example, our Club hosts several events that are open to both club members and non-members and the fee is higher for non-members. This means we have to set up two different ticket prices but setting limits per ticket type (member v. non-member) is useless, because we never know how many members and non-members will register. We have to continually monitor the total registrations and hope we just happen to check at the time we reach our facility's capacity. We have already over-sold our capacity at events because of the lack of a combined limit. While we enjoy many features of RSEvents integrating RSForms Pro, the lack of an overall combined ticket limit may mean we have to abandon it and use something else.

As currently designed, RSEvents is useful only if one of these two conditions exist: 1) your event has only one ticket price; or 2) if you have more than one ticket price, your event capacity is unlimited (highly unlikely). Otherwise, over-booking is a major problem.
