Is there a way to see the events calendar in a large monthly view, as is possible in Google Calendar? I'd like a monthly view that shows the events of certain days without having to click on it.

Is it possible? Available?

Thanks!

Have you tried selecting the Calendar Layout from the Menu Creator? (From the backend, Menus -> <menu name>, click New Button then under "Select Menu Item Type", select RSEvents -> Calendar -> Calendar Layout.
Fill out the form, save, and then view the calendar from the menu (on front).

HTH.

Thank you. I followed your instructions and that's exactly what I was looking for. However, I want to show it on the front page....how is that possible?

I think you can just go into the Menu (in the backend), find the default (one with star next to it) and change its Item type to RSEvents -> Calendar -> Calendar Layout. I would think that will do it. It's been a while since I have done something like that (I made a Kunena Index the default page), but I think I'm close.

Good luck,

Thanks for asking. Everything on our frontpage, except the login module, was visible only for registered. However, since I tied the frontpage to the events calendar, it has to be public or else visitors get a 404 page. What do now? Is there any way to make the calendar view for registered without screwing up the functionality of the frontpage?

Many thanks!

That sounds like a problem with your Joomla not re-directing to a login prompt for Registered or Special permission pages. It would REALLY be a good time for someone from RSJoomla to chime in here. Anyway, I'm not sure if this is going to help, but here are two screen shots of my menu setup for Kunena as my default front. Perhaps you can find something here in comparing these pics with your setup:

Menu Item List

Menu Item Detail

Anyway, without actually seeing your setup, I can't exactly say for sure. It should work, however. Joomla is pretty flexible for things like what you are trying to accomplish.

Good luck,
Keith

I didn't know that was possible. Whenever a guest goes to a page that has Registered permission they get an ugly error page. I would love to have it go to a login screen instead. If that is possible, do you know how to set it up?

Thanks for sharing your screen shots. The difference I see is that if I make the Home menu item Public, then the event calendar is visible and login module is shown on the frontpage. However, if I make it Private, then I get the error page. I'd like to have the site header and login module show when visitors arrive on the frontpage but to see the event calendar one has to be logged in. Not sure if this is possible as I have it currently setup?

I'd also like RSJoomla staff to pay more attention to their support forum. They are very good at answering tickets but I never see them here. It would benefit both us customers and their workload if they paid more attention to the forum because then they can answer a question that several people might have.

Thanks for your continued advise and responses. I really appreciate it.

Check the Login Module settings (mod_login). I would imagine that has to be set to public regardless. Also, set the login and logout re-direction page. There is a select drop-down box for each that allows you to choose a menu item. Set that to your Home item.
I will look around some more on my site to see if there is anything else and get back to you.

BTW, my site is J! 1.5.23. What is yours?

Thanks,
KP

Attached are screen shots on how it looks like when I have it set to public. If I set it to registered, the front page won't load at all (error page).

I contacted RSjoomla support and they said it can be done with modifications to the RSEvent component. Waiting to hear from them if they can do it for me.
