TOPIC: Where are the permissions for locations?

Where are the permissions for locations? 15 years 3 months ago #10197

I am trying to figure out how to allow users when creating a event to add a location on the front end. I see in the documentation that the permissions must be set correctly, but doesnt show how. And I dont see where this is.

Thanks.

I see the basic form that is given when you put event creation in the front end. I believe this is a design limitation that does not allow members to create locations. Locations as of now, must be created by the admin.

You could get a copy of RSFormsPro and make a form to add location sites and grant access to that to users.

The design limitation of RSEvents as of now is that all events are global. If you allow people to create locations for events, then the drop down box for locations will grow phenomenally. I can envision after a month or two having hundrends of locations in the drop down box. Imagine that one.

Also, as of now, there is no way to associate the location with the individual that created it. If there were, you could have the dropdown ONLY show the event locations that person made. It would be much better. However, I haven't seen RSJoomla staff comment on whether that is part of the future of the component. It appears they have MANY new projects recently. And if you are trying to focus on many things, you have a hard time focusing on any one thing.
