TOPIC: Does RSJoomla provide support anymore

Does RSJoomla provide support anymore 16 years 11 months ago #2932

I've been extremely patient prior to submitting this post but I thought it was time to put it out there. I've posted several times about bugs in RSforms and I can't seem to get a response from the developer. I've posted, waited, posted, waited....... and posted again but I don't even get a response saying we are working on it. I've also tried the customer support feature from the backend of rsforms but no response there either. One of the reason I went with RSForms was early on I and many others on the forum always received responses. Has something changed that prevents the great customer support we use to receive?

Here are the bugs I have found:
1) If you use a quote in a form the email includes a backslash around the quote. Makes for very ugly emails and my users asking why their email is different then what they typed.
2) Even with captacha enabled I have bots getting messages through usually only 2or three per week but still a pain for my users

Thanks and sorry for the slightly negative post but I think i have been extremely patient.

Nothing has changed as far as I know. I do remember hearing Alex saying something about working on the next release so I would assume that's where he's been tied up.

I haven't run into that problem but I do know what causes that problem.
Are your users entering quoted text in a textarea or in a different field? What is the field type?

Why are your users getting your messages? How are you using rsforms? Do you have a sample where I could get an idea for what you're trying to do?

Either way, even with Captcha enabled, some spammers will still find a way through. It continues to be a problem for even the billion dollar companies.

The website users enter their message into a text area field type. If they use \" or ' a backslash will be added to it. You will probably see a backslash in this message also. I use the form to send messages to various people. Let say you come to my site and want to send an email to a group of people. When you fill out the form it sends an email to a mailing list and the list is comprised of people that are in that group.

I also use it as a contact form so when someone submits the form it sends an email to the person they are trying to contact and it sends a copy to the email they fill out in the form. If they use quotes then they see backslashes before the quotes. It doesn't look or feel very professional.

I also noticed today that submitted text area ignores the returns also. Lets say I hit a return in the text to have a second paragraph. When the email is sent out the return is ignored. Does everyone else see this type of behavior also?

No, I haven't experienced this problem.

I use a lot of forms to collect data on my site and I haven't run into this problem yet, though I will check.

I know squat about mysql/php but I think single tick ' is used in MYSQL around table names etc, so maybe the component does not effectively convert that character to an ascii value and store that data and instead tries to escape the field. Perhaps this is due to the type of field, varchar which is ascii as opposed to nvarchar which is unicode and not language specific (ascii charset). Of course I could be talking total rubbish so please feel free to correct me.

I use the ` on the tilde key instead and the field is stored/displayed correctly.

hope that helps
