TOPIC: PDF made easy...please!

PDF made easy...please! 4 years 2 months ago #40990

After installing RS Form Pro, making a form was as easy as 1-2-3, great!

Now, hear this...

So we read about the pdf plugin, libraries and decided to instal all of the recommended stuff found in this forum/in documentation...

Where is the option (hallelujah) to just tick a checkbox and have the results mailed to admin in pdf with every single submission?
Do we really need to compile a pdf-body in settings for a 4 pages form and all its' placeholders manually?

It can't be that hard, now can it? I mean, is there something I'm missing?

Thank you in advance for any wise words.

Kind regards.

There is no checkbox, you would need to find out if there is a global placeholder containing all the form data. Not sure if that exists, did you find the 'toggle quick add' - top right which shows all the placeholders available?
I personally like the control of writing the pdf myself with html and inline css, especially useful are the {if {...}...{/if} statements, if a form field is empty you can use them to not show it in the pdf.
If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, then you obviously don't understand the situation!

Hello,

If I understand correctly and you want to automatically add all the field's placeholders that have a submitted value directly into the PDF's layout, you can try a scripting approach. You will need to add a script in the 'Admin Email Pre-processing PHP Script' located under Form Properties > PHP PDF Pre-Processing Scripts area. An example on this topic is provided here.

I think the easy way to do this is to finish making the form, and then make a directory.
Then copy the whole "Details Layout" box that has been automatically generated for you in the submissions directory section.
Paste this into the PDF Layout box of the form and you will get the same output in the pdf as you get in the details page.
You may need to edit a few minor things, but you get the idea...

Hope this helps a little!
