TOPIC: Mailchimp signup without unsubscribe choice

Mailchimp signup without unsubscribe choice 6 years 11 months ago #38157

Hey RS,

I've been looking around for a way to use the mailchimp integration without the action to subscribe/unsubscrive.
What i'm looking to do is have a single checkbox on the form that says "Subscribe to newsletter" and then a checbox. If the tick that box, they'll be subscribed.

Is there any way of doing this?

Its already there.

1. Create the checkbox field, eg named Subscribe
2. Set the value of the checkbox to be:
subscribe|Subscribe to newsletter
3. In the mailchimp integration, set the action to "Let user decide" and then select the Subscribe field as the field that determines what the user's input is.

If the user doesn't check the box, then it does nothing. If the user checks the box, the Mailchimp Integration subscribes them.

I've tried this but it doesn't work. It requires unsubscribe value to be set but I don't want this option to display.

Andrew,

You should not need to show an unsubscribe option to the user.

Here's how I have it set up on a site (form settings tested again just last week).

- Create a checkbox group with a single option of "subscribe|Please subscribe me to your newsletter" that visitors can check to then sign in.
- Best practice is to not check the box and have them opt-in, but you can add [c] on the end of the item to make it checked by default, and the user then needs to opt out.

- Next on the Mailchimp Integration on the Form Properties tab, you need to set the action to "Let the User Decide" and then select the Subscribe field as the field that makes the decision.
- The only values that field will pass through is subscribe if the checkbox is selected. As the hint below it shows, Any other value provided and the subscription will be ignored.

Thanks Patrick. I had left the dropdown set to IGNORE by accident.
