TOPIC: Drop Down with Live Search feature

Is it possible, or perhaps this needs to be a feature request, to create a drop down field with a live search like the Joomla 3 backend drop downs? We have a drop down populated by PHP with a list of all site users and our client is requesting that they be able to begin typing in the field to filter the drop down options.
The administrator has disabled public write access.
