TOPIC: Conditional fields knock out mandatory fields

Conditional fields knock out mandatory fields 11 years 9 months ago #24385

I have a number of forms set up on my website with mandatory fields. These work perfectly until I add a conditional field. Whilst the conditional fields are working as they should a user is now able to miss inputting information into a mandatory field without being prompted that the filed is mandatory.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can fix this and ensure that users don’t miss inputting into mandatory boxes?

Thanks

Hello,

When using the conditional fields feature, even if the field is mandatory and as long as it's hidden through this feature, it will not be taken into consideration when the form is submitted, regardless of it being mandatory or not.

If your field is mandatory for every form submission, it should not be conditioned.

Hi thanks for your reply.

Some of the fields have conditions and these fields are not set to mandatory. However the fields without any conditions that are set to mandatory still do not work as mandatory and the user can skip these. :(

Hello,

If you are using a multi-page form, the validation is done when users submit the form, not when changing pages. Even if they "skip" them, the form will not submit with a mandatory (not conditioned) field.

To validate when changing page you will have to enable Ajax validation for your form and your form's pages. This is done from backend > Components > RSForm!Pro > Manage Forms > your form > edit each "Pagebreak" component > Attributes tab > and set "Validate When Changing Page?" to "Yes". Afterwards go to the "Properties" tab > and set "Use AJAX Validation" to "Yes".

More information on the "Pagebreak" component and the "Properties" tab can be found here:
