Hello,
I want to group drop-down fileds so that users would give a number from 1 to 5 to each item - See link to the visual -
I can put the fields on separate lines but that makes the questionnaire appear longer that it is and discourage respondents.
Thank you for your help.

Actually, Radio Groups are meant to store multiple items in a single field (ie you do not need to add a Radio Group for each of your options, you will need to add a single Radio Group and fill it with the options available).
Radio Groups have an "Items" field, please type in there the values you wish to display (each on a new line). For example, your "Appearance" Radio Group will contain:
Glossy
Bright
Dull
Dead

If you want to store a different value (eg. 1) than the one you are showing to the submitted (eg. Glossy) you can always use the value|text syntax, like so:
1|Glossy
2|Bright
3|Dull
4|Dead

Thank you. However, this is not what I'm trying to do. I want users to grade between 1 and 4, the amount of "Acid, Roasted Nuts, Fruity, Bitter" and have these grouped on a line.
As for Appearance and Color, the choices must be exclusive and I though it looked easier on an horizontal line than using a drop-down.
Any idea?
Thks a lot.

I guess this is "just" a layout issue. I used Crosstec Form before, and there was group module. That's what I was looking for. I want to put the 3 dropdown on the same line and with one title "Flavors.

Hi,
Putting items side by side can be done but you'll have to edit the layout with Auto Generate Off. There is an example of how two components (items) are on the same line in the Custom PayPal Example. You'll see the description and then the Qty. This was done by taking the code for Qty. and adding it to the line where you want it to display.
I would suggest that you go to the Front End Demo section of the site, download the Custom PayPal sample form. Restore it into your site (DO NOT overwrite!) and then open the form and look at the coding for Product 1. You'll see the entry for Qty. 1 is added to the same line as Product 1.
(If you are not a programmer it may take some tests to get this right -- it did for me!)

This may not be the best or easiest way to do this, but it might get you started on a solution. A down side is if you need to make changes, generating a layout eliminates the edit you have made.
Good Luck.

Kathy
