System - RSForm! Pro: Loads RSForm!Pro Forms within any content, Syntax: {rsform 1}
Content - RSForm! Pro: Loads RSForm!Pro Forms within articles, Syntax: {rsform 1}

Could someone clarify the difference? Does System do modules but Content doesn't? System says any content. Content says any article... Does the System plugin then negate the need for the content plugin and the form modules? Does one approach use fewer resources than another?

The difference is that the Content Plugin works with com_content (mostly) - it works with other extensions as well but they need to trigger content plugins.
The System Plugin works regardless where you place the placeholder or if the extension you're using is triggering plugins - System Plugins are automatically triggered by Joomla!.

We advise to use the plugin that matches your scenario.

if you have the System-RSFormPro plugin activated - does this mean the Content Plugin is not needed?
