Can anyone help me out with a javascript that will limit the textarea to 500 words?

The other challenge that I am having with the textarea is that the text just flows in one line which causes the entire form to shrink when emailed.

I am using pro, but I don't know much about scripts other that I need one.

Is there any javascript tutorials out there?
