UTF-8 characters are not showing up correctly

Accented characters are not showing up correctly in the CSV file for exported submissions.

Please make sure that the CSV file for your submissions is correctly encoded in UTF-8 without BOM.

If this is not the case, then please make sure that, when opening the exported file, you have selected the UTF-8 Character Set.

  • For Open Office: When opening the CSV file you can select the character set that you wish in the Character Set drop-down list.
  • For MS Excel: In the Data tab you can select Get External Data group and click From Text. Then, in the Import Text File dialog box, double-click the text file that you want to import. Now, in the File Origin field, you can select the Character Set for your file.

Accented characters are not showing up correctly in the Excel file for exported submissions.

The library used by RSForm! Pro to generate the XLS file for submissions does not correctly generate all the UTF-8 characters. In this case it would be best to generate the CSV file for the submissions and then use the method presented above for the CSV file to import it in MS Excel.

After this, the submissions will be available for you to manage in Excel.
