Moderate form submissions with the `Restricted Words Filtering` validation rule

Ensuring a polite and professional lexicon for your form submissions is important, nobody wants to shift through submission after submission of profane or derogatory entries. It is always better and more time efficient to prevent such submissions from being made instead of having to filter out your form submissions manually.

To help with this scenario we have introduced the validation rule: Restricted Words Filtering. With this validation applied to a form field, you will be able to define a set of words that will not be allowed when making a submission. You can restrict one or multiple words for each field, in the latter case you will need to separate each word with a comma.

Firsthand example

Let's take the default RSForm! Pro example form, add a new field for a message and restrict this field so that it does not accept the following words: vulgar, profane, profanity.

Step 1.

The first step is to access the form configuration, this is done by navigating to Components > RSForm!Pro > Manage forms and selecting the form in question.

Step 2.

Next we will add the new Message field and set the basic field configuration.

Step 3.

Now we can focus on the validation for this field. First we will need to navigate to the Validations tab, set the field as Required and select the Restricted Words Filtering option in the Validation rule field. This will display a new field where we can enter the above mentioned words.

Just save your changes and we are done, that is all you need to do, quick and easy. Now each time one of the above words is used in the Message field a validation error will be triggered and the submission will be stopped.
