TOPIC: URGENT - problem with accents in folders and files

URGENT - problem with accents in folders and files 4 years 11 months ago #39198

Hello,

When I create folders or file names with accents, they do not appear? For example, if I put the folder name "Camión", RsFiles creates a "Cami" folder.

I have tried changing the collation of the database to different formats, "utf8mb4_unicode_ci," utf8mb4_general_ci "and" utf8mb4_spanish_ci ", but still, it does not work.

Any ideas to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

You can try creating a new folder via your Joomla! Media manager (backend > Content > Media > top "Create New Folder" button) with the same "Camión" name as you'll notice this won't be allowed.

Folder/File names have to be alphanumeric (without special characters).

Special characters have their own encoding which is different based on the operating system (along with its file system) and the regional settings. Thus, Joomla! doesn't allow having these characters as it may lead to inconsistencies and or other issues (RSFiles! being designed to work on the same Joomla! framework).

RSFiles! does however allow adding a caption for your files/folders and you can use special characters on these captions instead (this is set while editing your file/folder details after this has been uploaded/created, within the "File Name" property).

PS: you should revert your table collations as found.

Thanks Adrian, i have solve it.

Other problem is the header of navigation folders and files, is very poor, not configurable, don´t have template variations, and when use other joomla templates, in my case i use Helix3 framework by JoomShaper and the basic template "Helix", but fail, disappear the basic navigation buttons as, Home, Search... and only show the "navigation word" and the arrow down.

Any idea about this problem?

Best Regards,
Pedro

Hello,

What you've described points to the fact of mixing multiple layout frameworks. RSFiles! is designed to work and utilise the same Joomla! framework (the Joomla! CMS currently natively supports Bootstrap 2.3.2 and not other variations). Your template may look nice since it has Joomla! content customized, but install any other extension that uses the same Joomla! framework and you'll end up with similar issues.

You can always temporarily switch to a standard Joomla! template like Protostar to check how RSFiles! looks. A "Load Bootstrap" option is also provided which you can disable from its configuration, though if your template doesn't provide some compatibility declarations for the Joomla! Bootstrap version, you'll most likely need further CSS and layout adjustments. CSS would be something usually controlled from a template, and layout adjustments can be implemented through template overrides.
