Ep.15 - Enable canonicalization for your Joomla! website with RSSeo!
Canonicalization refers to different links that point to the same content, forcing search engines to decide what is the best URL to include in their search results. You can read about some SEO disadvantages in our blog post "Solve the most common cause of duplicate content in Joomla!".
To solve one cause of duplicate content in Joomla! use a redirect from the non-www domain to www domain
With RSSeo! you can set a 301 redirect from mydomain.com to www.mydomain.com.
1. To enable canonicalization, from the Joomla! backend panel head to Plugin Manager and look for the System RSSeo! Plugin (first download RSSeo! suite and install it in the backend Joomla!)
2. From the Plugin Parameters, set canonicalization to "Yes"
3. In the "Domain Name" field write the preferred domain; for example when you want a redirect from mydomain.com to www.mydomain.com write www.mydomain.com
