Ep. 56: How to customize the RSMembership! subscription form

RSMembership! allows you to add custom fields to the default membership subscription form.

How to add custom fields?

  1. 1. In the Joomla! admin panel, head to Components >> RSMembership! >> Custom fields.
  2. 2. By default, the RSMembership! subscription form has 5 fields: address, city, state, zip and country
  3. 3. The default subscription form fields are editable. Besides the "name" and the "email", all of the fields can be removed.
  4. 4. You can add as many fields as you like, using the "Custom fields" tab.
  5. 5. You can create custom HTML, text box, text area, select lists, checkbox/radio groups or calendar fields.
  6. 6. In our example, we'll add as custom fields a select list, a text box, a text area and a checkbox group.
  7. 7. For each custom field, you can add its values (items) and the additional attributes (css or Javascripts).
You can also add a validation rule, a validation message and php/MySQL code.
In our example, we've added a custom HTML field that shows in frontend the subscription date.
  8. 8. The new subscription form fields are listed in the "Custom fields" tab.
  9. 9. In frontend, subscribers will use the RSMembership! subscription form, when purchasing a new membership.
  10. 10. The default subscription form now has 5 new fields: role, portfolio URL, your projects, skills and date.
  11. 11. The user is subscribed to membership after the payment is received.
