With RSSeo! you can modify meta keywords directly from Pages tab.
In the past, search engines were evaluating the relevance of a page based on several on-page factors like meta keywords, ignoring off-page factors. As Search Engines got smarter and algorithms became more complex, in order to display relevant pages for users, the importance of meta keywords was slowly reduced until it became ignored.
Google has announced that meta keywords are completely ignored when determines the relevancy of a page. Yahoo has also modified ranking algorithms and is no longer considered a ranking factor. There are some major search engines that still support the meta keywords tag, so if the website's traffic is coming also from sources others than Google and Yahoo! it can be used.
You have too many keywords!
Use it with caution! The reason why Google and Yahoo! no longer support this tag is because of past attempts to manipulate rankings using keyword stuffing. Best practices:
- Limit the number of keywords of each page around 10 keywords - extra keywords may be ignored
- Repeating keywords in meta tags is considered a black hat technique and can be penalized by search engines
- Use keywords that will reflect the content of the page
