Backend ticket submission now in RSTickets!Pro rev. 4

We’ve been quite busy these days with launching the new RSForm!Pro 1.3.0 , working on an important RSEvents! update and today, with the release of the new RSTickets!Pro revision.

RSTickets!Pro rev. 4 comes with fresh updates: improvements, minor bug fixes and new added features, some of them highly requested by our subscribers.

1. Backend ticket submission

Among other features from our TO DO list was also included the ability to submit tickets directly from the backend.

Starting with rev. 4, the administrators and the staff members can submit tickets for a public user (a new account is created right after submission ) or on behalf of a registered user.

To submit a new ticket from the backend, head to Components >> RSTickets!Pro >> Manage Tickets >> click on the “New” icon from the right side of the panel.

2. Ability to force staff members to see only their own departments

Starting with rev. 4, we’ve made some changes regarding the tickets management: staff members will be able to see only their assigned departments.

Administrators will allow/restrict the access to other departments when adding/editing new staff members.

e.g. If a staff member belongs only to the Billing department, he won’t be able to see tickets from the Tech department or change the ticket department.

These changes are encountered in 2 RSTickets!Pro locations:

a. My tickets

The staff member will be able to view and answer only to tickets from his own departments.

b. Editing a ticket

When modifying ticket department, in the “Ticket Information” tab, the staff member will be able to select only his assigned departments.

3. Tickets can now be colored based on their priority level

To better distinguish tickets in backend, we’ve introduced the ability to assign a background and a text color to each priority, using a color panel.

To assign a priority color, head to Components >> RSTickets!Pro >> Ticket priorities >> Edit the priority >> Use the color panel to edit background and text color.

How to update to RSTickets!Pro rev. 4?

Other improvements and fixes:

  • Updated - When only allowing registered users to submit a ticket, the user will be redirected to a login page
  • Updated - Color picker reports compatible with MooTools Upgrade
  • Added - Customers can now be redirected to a custom URL when submitting a ticket
  • Added - Ability to choose whether or not to include attachments in emails
  • Added - Ticket messages can now be sorted descending or ascending, by date
  • Fixed - Staff members validation bug
  • Fixed - Staff members permissions bug (replying)
  • Fixed - Custom fields not being ordered in ticket view

Updated XSS and LFI detection in RSFirewall! rev. 18

We keep RSFirewall! inline with the evolving attacking methods, thus we’re releasing this new revision - 18, with improved XSS (Cross-site scripting ) and LFI (local file inclusion) detection methods.

Updated XSS detection

In the new revision, RSFirewall! relies on an increased range of XSS filtering and uses extra triggered actions to block XSS attacks. The attacks are automatically blocked.

Why is important to protect your Joomla! website by XSS attacks?

XSS attacks affect the end user, not the website itself because of the improperly variable validation in web applications, thus allowing to run arbitrary code (JavaScript, HTML, Flash, etc) on the user computer.

The result? Account hijacking, cookie theft and other private information compromised.

More information about XSS:
Joomla! Security Useful security tips for your website, by RSJoomla.com - chapter 1.5 Cross Site Scripting

XSS Statistics:

“Statistically, 42% of web applications which request security audits are vulnerable to XSS, which is clearly the most recurring high-risk exploit among all the applications tested. ” according to www.acunetix.com

Updated LFI detection

When attackers are trying to load a file as being a Joomla! component controller for example, the RSFirewall! Active Scanner is triggered, thus blocking any malicious attempt.

Why is important to protect your Joomla! website by LFI attacks?

A local file inclusion allows to execute arbitrary files as code, the file being loaded locally, from the disk. The result? Well... you can just imagine what an attacker can do by executing almost any code onto your site.

LFI statistics

According to www.exploit-db.com, in 2010 were detected 122 web applications with local file inclusion vulnerability, from which 89 were Joomla! extensions.

RSFirewall! Active Scanner - LFI settings:

XSS and LFI attacks are automatically blocked by RSFirewall! so you and your business are as protected as possible.

Bounce emails and K2 articles starting with RSMail! rev. 9!

RSMail! - Joomla! newsletter extension

We have included in RSMail! rev. 9 the bounce email handling feature, since it’s the most requested on the RSMail! feedback and the ability to create newsletters directly from K2 articles.

1. Bounce email handling:

This marketing term refers to email deliverability rate and it's an indicator of your newsletter campaign success.
The bounce email shows the rate of undeliverable emails because of the server or software issues and wrong user addresses.
Basically, this percent reveals how many of your subscribers have received your emails.

e.g. A bounce rate equal with 0% indicates a 100% deliverability rate.

RSMail! - bounce rate

Before sending emails, you need to configure some bounce email settings:

  • Bounce details: this is the connecting part. Here you will set the email that will handle the bounces, the connection method, mail server and port, etc.
  • Bounce rule: this is the action part. Here you can configure what actions should RSMail! implement for bounce emails: automatically delete emails, forward emails, automatically unsubscribe or delete users.

Statistical reports for your Joomla! support department in the new RSTickets!Pro Reporting Tool

Since the Reporting Tool feature was the most requested on the feedback page, we have included it in the new RSTickets!Pro, so you can measure the quality of your Joomla! support department in a professional way .
These reports can show you how active and efficient are your staff members and how engaged and satisfied are your customers.

Reports and filters

The Reporting Tool includes 6 reports and 5 filters, to refine the results and generate reports with different levels of complexity. The charts will reveal the evolution of the support department. Below the chart, RSTickets!Pro calculates the minimum, maximum, average and the total of items for the chosen time unit.

1. Number of submitted tickets

This report will show you valuable data about the number of the submitted tickets for a specific time period, staff member, department, customer or priority.
Besides the generated chart, RSTickets!Pro will calculate the minimum, maximum, average and the total number of the submitted tickets.

e.g. In the first 5 months of 2010, the support department had an average of 36 Tickets/Day, a minimum of 1 ticket/day, maximum of 68 tickets/day and a Total of 3946 tickets for the entire time period. All 5 filters are active.

Introducing RSFeedback! - the new Joomla! feedback extension from RSJoomla!

Last year we’ve implemented on our website a popular feedback system, because we’ve needed a way to gather all users suggestions and ideas.

After a while, some of our users expressed their desire to develop a feedback component. Because the idea became popular shortly after submission, we thought:
“Why not have our own Joomla! feedback extension?”
So we've accepted the project.

Users - vote, promote and spread ideas and suggestions

Why not allow your audience to express their ideas, suggestions and empower them to vote on your next projects or product features ?

Vote & Promote

RSFeedback! demonstrates its flexibility both in frontend as well as in the backend panel.
If allowed, users can add new categories, feedbacks or vote for the existing ones. Each user/guest can vote multiple times, depending on the maximum number of votes allowed by the administrator. This number can be configured from the backend panel, in the "Settings" tab.

What’s new in RSEvents! rev.17?

The new RSEvents! rev. 17 comes with a multitude of added functionalities, of which the most important are:

1. Registered users : avatar , select name

Beginning with RSEvents! rev. 17, there are 3 more options available for registered users: you can enable avatars from Gravatar, JomSocial, Kunena, Fireboard and Community Builder, choose between Name, username or Community Builder fullname to be displayed, and link the user to the Community Builder, Joomunity or JomSocial profile.

To enable these settings, in the backend panel head to:
Components -> RSEvents! -> Settings -> Events -> Registered users details.

2. Geocode map

Until rev.17, when you were creating an event, you needed to pin point or input the exact coordinates to specify the location . From now on, it's ok to add just the event address and the geocode map will assign the coordinates on the map.

To enable geocode, in the backend panel head to:
Components! -> RSEvents! -> Settings -> Locations -> Enable Geocode

3. Full event marking: {EventFullClass} placeholder: (class="rsevents_full")

This new placeholder lets you mark an event as “full”, when you have sold all tickets or “not full” , when there are tickets left.

You can use the {EventFullClass} placeholder in 2 places:

  1. In Settings, in the Event Intro Layout
  2. In the event design: when a user will try to register to a full event, a message will be displayed on the event page to inform him that there are no tickets left.

Other new functionalities beginning with RSEvents! rev. 17:

  • Added - Itemid in the calendar module
  • Added - Google Map in print preview
  • Added - Redirect link for Wire Transfer plugin

Common malware protection for User-Agents in RSFirewall! rev. 15

Beginning with RSFirewall! rev. 15, we have introduced a new Active Scanner option :
user-agents check for common malware user agents.

Basically, when the Active Scan runs (is enabled from the RSFirewall! configuration), it will look for automated scripts meant to scan websites for vulnerabilities. These will be detected with the help of user agents and will be blocked and reported into the log.

The option is active by default, but if you don't want to perform this task you can disable it from Firewall! Configuration:
Components - > RSFirewall! -> Firewall Configuration -> RSFirewall! Active Scanner.

Check user agents for common malware:

RSFirewall! user agent settings

The other changes in RSFirewall! rev. 15 are:

  • Added - A few more passwords for strength test
  • Fixed - The module now uses Ajax calls to connect to the server to avoid timing out in the Administrator area

Discount coupons beginning with RSEvents! rev. 16

The new RSEvents! rev. 16, comes with some new added functionalities: the most important ones are the Discount Coupons options and Colored Categories.

Discount coupons:

Since rev. 16, the users can use discount coupons, when they are registering to an event. The coupon code will be introduced before making a new ticket payment.

To create discount coupons, in the backend Joomla! panel head to:
Components -> RSEvents! -> Events -> select the event for which you want to add coupons -> Registration -> Manage tickets type -> Click on the Coupons icon. Here you can automatically generate coupons, set the coupon type: value or percentage and the discount value.
